Overview

ImageColorizer is an AI photo-repair service for people working with old, faded, or damaged pictures. It is most useful when you want colorization, restoration, and portrait fixes in one place; the credit cost for each processing or download makes the monthly allowance important if you have a large backlog.

Key features

Colorization: The AI adds color to black-and-white images, including skin tones, clothing, scenery, and backgrounds. That suits family and historical photos, though the result still needs to fit the image you want to share, archive, or print.
Restoration: Tools target contrast, clarity, and facial detail in faded or blurry photographs. This is a broader repair option than colorization alone, particularly for scanned portraits that need more than color.
Damage repair: The service reduces scratches, tears, stains, creases, water spots, and other visible damage. It is a practical fit for worn prints, but does not replace a general photo editor.
Portrait retouching: Facial clarity, noise reduction, and smoothing of minor imperfections are intended to retain a natural appearance. That makes it relevant for portraits rather than extensive creative editing.
Batch processing: Paid plans include single processing and legacy batch processing. Each image processed or downloaded costs one credit, and repeated downloads also consume a credit, so batch work can use an allowance quickly. Subscription credits can roll over to the next month.
File handling and privacy: JPG, PNG, and WEBP are supported. Paid uploads should be under 100MB and 4000px on one side; larger files may need resizing or compression. Cloud-processed source and result images are automatically deleted within two hours. The service uses encrypted transmission and access controls, but does not offer offline-model processing or history-based file retention.

Pricing

The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and provides 50 credits per month, single processing, all AI features, and ads. It is a useful way to try the tools or handle occasional repairs, but the monthly quota and lack of batch processing make it a poor fit for a large archive.

Starter costs 6.90 USD per month, billed monthly, for 500 credits per month, priority support, single processing, legacy batch processing, all AI features, and no ads. It suits modest recurring work, though the one-credit processing and download charges reduce the number of images each allowance can cover.

Premium costs 9.90 USD per month, billed monthly, and raises the allowance to 1000 credits with the same listed features as Starter. It is the more suitable monthly option for heavier use; the additional credits are the main difference from Starter.

Business costs 19.90 USD per month, billed monthly, and includes unlimited access to the V2 model, priority support, single processing, legacy batch processing, all AI features, and no ads. It is aimed at sustained use where V2 access matters, though the plan's listed allowance does not state a monthly credit quota.

There is no free trial. The pricing page says card details are not stored, payments are handled by Paddle, and SSL encryption is used. Starter, Premium, and Business include priority support; payment questions go to [email protected].

Platforms

ImageColorizer is available on the web and supports Windows, macOS, iOS, iPad, and Android through its web, desktop, and Colorize app options. This range is useful if you move between devices, while the web version avoids limiting the service to a single desktop platform.

Who it's for

Choose ImageColorizer if you want one service for colorizing black-and-white photographs and repairing, enhancing, or retouching old images. Its family-photo, historical-image, and scanned-portrait use cases also suit people preparing pictures for sharing, archiving, or printing. Occasional users can start free; regular users should estimate processing and download credits before choosing a paid tier.

Pros and cons

Pro: Colorization, restoration, damage repair, and portrait retouching are combined, so common old-photo tasks do not require separate tools.
Pro: Monthly credits can roll over, which helps users whose image workload varies from month to month.
Pro: Cloud images are automatically deleted within two hours, and transmission is encrypted with access controls.
Con: Processing and every download cost one credit, including repeated downloads, which can make a seemingly generous quota less useful for iterative work.
Con: The free plan has 50 credits per month, ads, and single processing only; frequent or batch users need a paid plan.
Con: Paid uploads have size and dimension guidance, so large scans may require adjustment before upload.

Alternatives

Photo Restoration Software is the category to browse if restoration is the main task and you want to compare services beyond ImageColorizer. For color-first comparisons, see AI Image Colorizers and AI Photo Colorization Software. If repair and enhancement matter more, AI Image Restoration Software and AI Photo Enhancer Software are the relevant lists.

AIPhotor is another freemium option across Android, iOS, and web, with a free account offering 5 credits and a 3.99 USD per month plan for 100 credits. Consider it if a lower monthly price and smaller allowance better match your workload.

HitPaw FotorPea offers a 21.99 USD per month plan with 100 free credits and nine AI image enhancement models, alongside a free plan and trial. It may suit users prioritizing a broader set of enhancement models across desktop and mobile platforms.

Restore.Photo has a free web and API plan limited to three standard-quality restorations per month, up to 1024x1024, with basic scratch removal, color correction, and 24-hour file storage. It is a tighter fit for occasional basic restorations than for users seeking ImageColorizer's broader set of photo tasks.

VanceAI Photo Restorer is a freemium restoration option across web, API, Linux, macOS, and Windows. Its Starter plan costs 15.00 USD per month for 260 credits, with restoration priced at four credits for 1K/2K images and ten for 4K images; it may suit users whose priority is a dedicated restorer and who can work within those per-image costs.

AKVIS Enhancer is a paid option for Windows, macOS, and Linux with a 69.00 USD lifetime Home Standalone license for two computers. Consider it if a desktop license without a recurring monthly subscription is preferable.

Hotpot AI Photo Restorer offers a free web plan limited to two images daily; its premium plan includes unlimited use, commercial use, faster VIP speed, private images, and no ads. It may fit users who prefer a daily free allowance or need those premium terms.

SoftOrbits Photo Retoucher is another option for readers comparing photo-retouching software.

HitPaw FotorPea offers a free plan and a 27.99 USD per month one-month license with 100 credits. It may suit readers comparing a monthly license with a fixed credit allowance.

Verdict

ImageColorizer is a sensible choice for people who want colorization and several common old-photo repairs in one service, with a free tier for occasional work and larger paid credit pools for regular use. Its chief advantage is that range; look elsewhere if your priority is offline processing, or if one-credit processing and downloads make the monthly credit budget too restrictive.
