Overview

Playary combines music, podcasts, audiobooks, movies and series in one entertainment service. It suits listeners who want several media types under one roof, especially those who value offline playback and playlist tools. Its broad, free offering is appealing, but its language coverage and catalog-dependent podcast imports narrow its fit.

Playary is available on Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows and the web. The service is made by Playary, founded in 2017 and headquartered in Türkiye.

Key features

Listening, playlists and controls

Downloads allow playback without mobile data, a useful option for commutes or limited data plans. They are not DRM-free, so Playary is not the choice for anyone who wants unrestricted audio files to keep and use elsewhere.

Unlimited playlists can be created, copied and shared, and users can explore playlists made by others. Explicit-content filters and blocking for artists, albums or individual songs add practical control over what appears in listening.

Podcasts and video

Playary supports audio and video podcasts, and podcast subscriptions can be imported or exported through OPML. Imports include only podcasts in Playary's catalog, so an OPML file will not necessarily bring every existing subscription over. The service may also embed videos hosted by third parties such as YouTube and Vimeo.

Creator tools and support

Separate platforms let artists and podcasters upload and manage content. Users can contact Playary by email, through its Discord community or via the website contact form.

Privacy and eligibility

Playary says sensitive personal data is encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest, with role-based access controls and multi-factor authentication. It also says it conducts security assessments, penetration tests, vulnerability scans and internal audits. Users must be at least 13 or meet the applicable digital-consent age, unless parental consent applies.

Pricing

Playary's Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes songs, podcasts, movies, audiobooks, TV shows, ad-free listening and downloads. That breadth makes it an attractive starting point for people who want a mix of entertainment without a subscription. The service says it is completely free, while noting that premium membership options may be introduced later.

Premium includes songs, podcasts, movies, audiobooks, TV shows and ad-free listening. It has custom pricing; the plan description does not include downloads. Since Playary's current service is described as free, there is no paid tier to weigh against the Free plan today.

Platforms

Playary supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, web and Windows. Its language support is Turkish and English, which may rule it out for users who need another interface language.

Who it's for

Playary is a strong fit for people who want music, podcasts, audiobooks and video entertainment in a single free service, with offline playback and flexible playlist sharing. It is less suitable for listeners who need DRM-free downloads, broad language choice or an OPML import that preserves subscriptions outside Playary's podcast catalog.

Pros and cons

Pros: One free plan spans music, podcasts, audiobooks, movies and TV shows, with ad-free listening and downloads included.
Pros: Unlimited playlists, sharing and content blocking give users meaningful ways to organize and control listening.
Cons: Downloads are not DRM-free, limiting their use to Playary playback.
Cons: OPML imports are limited to podcasts in Playary's catalog, and the service supports only Turkish and English.

Alternatives

For a dedicated audiobook service, compare Audiobook Apps. For music-first choices, see Music Streaming Software, and for podcast-focused options, browse Podcast apps.

Choose AudiobooksNow if you want a paid audiobook club with a 30-day free trial and a monthly discount on one audiobook. Kobo Books is another audiobook option, with a 14-day trial before its 7.99 USD per month Kobo Plus Listen plan. Bookmate may suit readers looking to combine books, comics, audiobooks and podcasts with offline reading and listening; its Premium plan is free for seven days.

Hoopla is worth considering if you have a valid card from a participating public library; title availability depends on that library's catalog. Libby is also free, but borrowing requires a library card and depends on the library's collection. For an audiobook membership with one credit per month and discounts on additional audiobooks, consider Libro.fm. Audible is a paid alternative with a 30-day trial and a Standard plan at 8.99 USD per month, auto-renewing after the trial. BookPlayer is another option to compare.

Verdict

Playary is best for people who want a free, broad entertainment library with ad-free listening, downloads and useful playlist controls. Its range of formats is the main reason to choose it; look elsewhere if DRM-free files, wider language support or more complete podcast importing matter more.
