Overview

eWire is a press-release drafting and distribution service aimed at startups, with web and API access. It is best suited to founders and small PR agencies that want to move from an announcement brief to a distributed release in one workflow. The combination is useful, but distribution is reserved for paid plans and subject to editorial standards.

Users can describe an announcement in plain language; eWire says 100 words is enough to start. Its AI produces an AP-style release with a headline, dateline, body, boilerplate, and contact section, and the service lists scoring and SEO optimization as features. Distribution is the more consequential distinction: a one-click send can reach 500+ outlets, Google News, and eWire's subscriber list, with pickup analytics. Published releases may also be syndicated through partner networks, including EIN Presswire and NewswireJet.

That reach comes with a real editorial gate. Releases must announce something newsworthy, use AP style, and be at least 300 words with the required sections. eWire may decline distribution, and securities offerings or Reg A+ content require compliance review; eWire says it is not an SEC-registered disclosure service.

Key features

AI drafting: A short plain-language brief becomes a structured release, which can help founders who do not have a PR writer. But the 100-word starting point is not a waiver of the 300-word minimum or the requirement for a genuine announcement.
Distribution: The paid service combines proprietary network distribution with broader syndication options. Pickup analytics can show where a release is picked up; the stated reach should not be read as a guarantee of coverage.
Agent and API workflows: An MCP server lets an AI coding agent draft and distribute without the UI, and the documented API accepts release submissions. This is a meaningful fit for technical teams automating launch work, while less technical users can stay in the web interface.
Data handling and retention: Draft text is sent to AI providers Anthropic and OpenAI; eWire says it uses zero-retention or no-training APIs where available. Unpublished drafts are deleted 90 days after the last edit, while published releases remain indefinitely as public record. That distinction matters for sensitive launch material.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free, billed $0 forever. It includes AI drafting, scoring, and PDF export, with unlimited drafts but no distribution. It is useful for preparing and refining copy, not for getting a release onto a wire.

Starter costs 49.00 USD per month, billed $49/mo, and includes four releases per month with proprietary network distribution. Expanded wire syndication costs $149 per release on Starter. This is the entry point for occasional announcements, but the four-release cap makes it a poor fit for frequent publishing.

Growth costs 199.00 USD per month, billed $199/mo, for unlimited releases and three team seats; expanded wire syndication is $99 per release. The lower syndication charge can suit teams sending several releases, though the monthly fee is substantially higher than Starter. Agency costs 399.00 USD per month, billed $399/mo, and adds unlimited releases, 10 white-label client accounts, API access, and SLA support, making it the clearest fit for boutique agencies. Enterprise starts at $1,200/mo and offers custom distribution, SLA support, team seats, and dedicated account management, with custom pricing terms.

Expanded Wire Syndication is also sold per release: the Growth/Agency rate is 99.00 USD per once, billed per release, and the Starter rate is 149.00 USD per once. Both describe reach to 2,500+ outlets, including EIN Presswire, GlobeNewswire, and Send2Press. The per-release charge is separate from the monthly plan.

Platforms

eWire is available on the web and through an API. The MCP server extends that API workflow to AI coding agents, particularly useful for teams that want distribution initiated from their development tools.

Who it's for

Its stated audience is seed-to-Series A and bootstrapped founders, AI, crypto, and web3 projects, and boutique PR agencies managing 3–10 startup clients. The unlimited-release Growth plan suits a team with recurring announcements; Agency's white-label client accounts and API access make more sense for client work. A company seeking only occasional copy help can stay on Free, but will need another distribution route.

Pros and cons

Pro: Drafting and distribution share one workflow. Founders can move from a brief to network distribution without buying separate drafting and distribution tools.
Pro: Technical integrations are unusually relevant to startup workflows. API submission and an MCP server support agent-driven drafting and distribution.
Con: Free does not distribute. Unlimited drafts are useful for preparation, but distribution begins with the paid monthly plans.
Con: Distribution has editorial conditions and discretion. The 300-word, AP-style, newsworthiness requirements and possible rejection rule out treating every company update as wire-ready.
Con: Published copy is permanent. Unlike unpublished drafts, distributed releases remain indefinitely, so sensitive or premature claims deserve careful review.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse AI Press Release Generators.

PressPilot is worth considering when a lower-cost paid entry matters more than eWire's distribution reach: it has a free tier with five credits and a Startup plan at 19.00 EUR per month with 100 credits and up to three seats.
NewPR.io suits readers who want a broader PR workspace on a free tier, including three monthly PR generations, a Press Room, Podium, Social Hub, social posts, PDF export, and media-contact finding.
Press Release Distribution AI is a close alternative for teams comparing wire workflows: its free plan includes one release per month and an AI writer, while its Starter plan costs 49.00 USD per month for four releases and instant review.
Presscloud AI Generator is another option for readers comparing per-release tools; its Single plan is billed as a one-time payment and covers one release, but its price is custom pricing.
USAEV.Press may suit someone buying a single release rather than a recurring workflow: its single-release plan is 67.00 USD per once, while its subscription is 99.00 USD per month for lower per-release pricing.
Prezly AI Press Release Optimizer is an alternative for readers prioritizing a contact database and publication site, with plans distinguished by site, user, and contact limits.
inkera.io is a free-tier alternative for one monthly release and generic media contacts, including English and Estonian support.
Newswriter.ai is another free web-based alternative.

Verdict

eWire is a strong fit for startup founders and small agencies that need both AI-assisted press-release drafting and a path to distribution, especially when API or agent workflows matter. Its free plan can prepare copy but cannot publish it, and paid distribution brings editorial scrutiny, recurring fees, and a permanent public record. Choose it when that combined workflow is worth the cost; look elsewhere if you need only occasional drafting or cannot meet its release standards.
