Overview

Humanitix is a ticketing and event-management service for organizers running paid or free events. It suits teams that want registration, promotion and check-in tools together, especially charities and schools. Its charitable model is a point of difference, but paid-ticket costs include both a booking fee and payment processing.

Founded in Sydney in 2016, Humanitix directs all profits from booking fees to charity. That purpose may help decide between providers, but it does not eliminate the fees attached to paid tickets.

Key features

Ticketing includes unlimited ticket types, reserved seating, merchandise sales, gift cards, invoicing and waitlists. This range can handle more than straightforward general-admission sales. Session registration and advanced form customization suit events with more structured sign-ups, while guest and refund management, later ticket assignment, reports and analytics support work before and after registration.

Website ticket widgets, promotional and affiliate codes, email tools and accessibility features give organizers several ways to promote events and communicate with audiences. Integration guides cover Mailchimp, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zapier, Meta Pixel, Google Tag Manager and analytics platforms, a useful fit for teams already working with those services.

The public API is read-only and retrieves event, order, ticket and tag data for events owned by or shared with an account. It is suitable for accessing event information, not for teams that need a general-purpose interface for changing it. The free Humanitix for Hosts app runs on iOS and Android and supports tracking, check-in and ticket sales. Check-in requires Android 7.0 or later or iOS 13.0 or later; Tap to Pay has additional device and operating-system requirements.

Hosts can sign in with email and password, two-factor authentication or Google single sign-on; ticket buyers do not need logged-in accounts. Humanitix says it does not sell user data and stores application data in MongoDB Atlas hosted on AWS in Sydney. Its payment processing is PCI DSS certified, but Humanitix is not currently ISO 27001 certified. Support is included on all plans, with the support team based in Sydney.

Pricing

Free events have no ticket fee, making Humanitix a practical option for organizers who need ticketing without charging admission. For paid events, Standard costs 0.99 USD per paid ticket, with a 2.1% booking fee plus $0.99 per ticket; payment processing is listed separately at 2.9% + $0.30. Charities & Schools costs 0.99 USD per paid ticket, with a 1% booking fee plus $0.99 per ticket and the same separately listed payment processing of 2.9% + $0.30. The lower booking percentage makes the latter plan more appealing to eligible charities and schools, though the per-ticket and processing charges remain.

Custom pricing is for larger events. All plans include free customer support. Organizers should compare the booking-fee and payment-processing components when estimating the full cost of paid tickets.

Platforms

Humanitix is available on web, iOS and Android, and offers an API. The Hosts app gives event teams mobile tools for tracking, check-in and ticket sales, subject to the stated minimum operating-system versions for check-in.

Who it's for

Humanitix is best suited to event teams that need ticketing plus practical management and promotion tools, and to charities or schools that can use the lower booking-fee rate. It is less compelling for organizers whose priority is minimizing paid-ticket charges, since payment processing is separate from the booking fee, or for teams that require a write-capable public API.

Pros and cons

Pro: Free events have no ticket fee, so organizers can run free registrations without a ticket charge.
Pro: Reserved seating, waitlists, merchandise, gift cards and session registration cover needs beyond basic ticket sales.
Pro: All profits from booking fees go to charity, giving the fee model a charitable purpose.
Con: Paid tickets carry both a booking fee and separately listed payment processing, which organizers must account for together.
Con: The public API is read-only, limiting its usefulness for teams that need to update event data through an integration.

Alternatives

For a broad comparison of category options, see Nonprofit Event Management Software, Event Management Software and Event Registration Software.

Eventbrite is another freemium choice with a free plan for unlimited event publishing and no ticketing fees on free tickets; consider it if those free-event terms are your priority. Zoho Backstage may suit smaller events that fit its free plan's caps of 100 attendees, 300 RSVP invites, three sessions, three speakers and one event day.

AlignMint is worth considering for eligible organizations with up to $100K in annual donations, while Kindest Events offers a free Kickstart plan with three admin seats and a 5% platform fee waived for the first $50K of the first year. RunSignup is an alternative for organizers who want no processing fee on a $0 cart for free events.

RegFox may suit paid registrations where its $0/month plan and $0.99 + 1% per registration, capped at $4.99 per registrant, fit the budget. Zeffy is a free alternative with event ticketing and fundraising alongside donation forms, donor management and email tools. Enthuse is another option for fundraising, with a Mass Participation plan at £0.00/month and a 0% platform fee, plus payment-provider and Gift Aid fees.

Verdict

Humanitix is a strong choice for organizers who want ticketing, event management and mobile check-in in one service, particularly charities and schools that benefit from its lower booking-fee rate. Its charitable commitment and no-ticket-fee treatment for free events are clear advantages. Look elsewhere if paid-ticket charges are the deciding factor or your workflow depends on writing data through a public API.
