Overview

GoldFynch is a cloud eDiscovery service for organizing and reviewing legal case data, aimed especially at small law firms and other legal teams. Its strongest case is an end-to-end browser workflow with unlimited paid-plan users; its main constraint is that each case is capped by a paid storage tier.

Key features

Uploads are processed automatically, with OCR making scanned text searchable. The format range includes PDF, PST, MBOX, MSG, EML, Office documents, TIFF, JPEG, ZIP, and RAR, which lets a case team bring common email, document, image, and archive material into one workspace. Search spans documents, emails, and images, and combines metadata refinement with Boolean operators such as AND, OR, and NOT. Email threading and a native file viewer support review, though there is no automated redaction.

Documents can be reviewed in the browser, redacted, and assembled into productions without a separate production fee. Output options include native files, PDF, TIFF G4, JPEG, and Concordance/Relativity-style load files. This makes GoldFynch useful when a team wants intake, search, review, and production in one service rather than a separate production charge. Unlimited users on paid cases and role-based permissions make collaboration practical without seat fees. An FTP upload add-on supports transfers through clients such as FileZilla.

GoldFynch says customer data is protected with 256-bit SSL using AES and a 2048-bit key length, and hosted in Google Cloud data centers; international hosting can be arranged on request. Deleted data, including backups, is erased after 30 days, with earlier erasure available on request. Standard email support, including the in-case help button, carries no extra charge.

Pricing

The Free case costs 0.00 USD per free and provides one case per new account, up to 512 MB stored and 1 GB processed. It expires after 90 days, and productions carry a GoldFynch watermark. It is useful for a small evaluation or limited matter, but the storage, processing, and expiry caps make it unsuitable for ongoing or larger cases.

Paid cases are billed monthly and prorated. Each includes unlimited users, productions, and processing; the case-volume ceiling is the key distinction:

3 GB case: 27.00 USD per month, with 3 GB case volume.
10 GB case: 76.00 USD per month, with 10 GB case volume.
15 GB case: 108.00 USD per month, with 15 GB case volume.
25 GB case: 179.00 USD per month, with 25 GB case volume.
35 GB case: 244.00 USD per month, with 35 GB case volume.
50 GB case: 342.00 USD per month, with 50 GB case volume.
75 GB case: 505.00 USD per month, with 75 GB case volume.
100 GB case: 652.00 USD per month, with 100 GB case volume.
150 GB case: 896.00 USD per month, with 150 GB case volume.

The 3 GB tier is the entry point for a paid workflow; larger matters need a higher volume tier, while unlimited processing and users mean those are not separate metered charges. The free case is the only option with a stated expiry and watermark.

Platforms

GoldFynch is delivered through the web and hosted in the vendor cloud. That suits browser-based case access, but teams seeking self-hosted deployment should consider alternatives.

Who it's for

GoldFynch fits legal professionals, particularly small firms that need searchable case files, browser review, redaction, and production without per-user charges. Its tools and discounts for nonprofit, educational, and government organizations may also suit those teams. It is less compelling for matters whose volume exceeds the chosen case tier, or for teams that require automated redaction or local hosting.

Pros and cons

Pro: OCR, Boolean and metadata search, email threading, and a native viewer support a connected review workflow across common case formats.
Pro: Paid cases allow unlimited users, productions, and processing, avoiding separate user and production fees.
Pro: Role-based permissions and standard support at no extra charge help teams share case access.
Con: Paid capacity is sold in fixed case-volume tiers, so larger matters require a higher monthly price.
Con: The free case expires after 90 days, is tightly capped, and watermarks productions; it is not a durable free tier.
Con: Redaction is available, but not automated.

Exterro eDiscovery is a web-based paid option with pricing handled through a demo request. iCONECT is another paid option, available on web, API, or self-hosted deployment.

RelativityOne may fit teams seeking flexible pay-as-you-go or one- or three-year commitments, with AI capabilities included alongside committed data volume. KLDiscovery Nebula uses annual capacity-based subscriptions, paid monthly, with multi-year discounts. redactX is a paid, yearly subscription option for teams looking at Windows or Linux deployment. CloudNine may be a fit for buyers preferring a volume-based model; its listed plan starts at 17.50 USD per month with a six-month minimum commitment.

Verdict

Choose GoldFynch if a small legal team wants cloud-based search, review, redaction, and production under one case workflow, with no user or production fees on paid plans. Look elsewhere if the case cannot fit a fixed volume tier, requires automated redaction, or must be hosted outside the vendor cloud.
