Overview

Effy AI brings performance, engagement, and workplace satisfaction processes into one web product. Customizable forms and workflows cover 360, peer, upward, self, probation, and annual reviews. That variety makes it a stronger fit for companies coordinating different review formats than for teams that need only a simple annual appraisal.

Goals and OKRs can cascade from company to team to individual, with progress tracking and links to reviews. Framework building, job family management, and career paths extend its use to organizations organizing roles and development as well as performance conversations.

Key features

Reviews and AI assistance

AI-generated summaries and reports, writing assistance, and automated reminders can reduce the coordination and drafting work around review cycles. They support the process, but do not remove managers' responsibility to give considered feedback.

Goals and integrations

Goal alignment and check-ins connect objectives to review conversations. The Slack app is included in every plan and can send reminders, capture feedback and kudos, and sync workspace people. That is useful for teams already using Slack as a working channel, though Slack is not a substitute for the review system itself.

Effy AI skills can connect to Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot through MCP. Its 1-on-1 skill can prepare manager notes using employee context and connected tools such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Granola, Zoom, Fathom, and Slack. This may help managers gather context before meetings, but makes the product most relevant to teams comfortable connecting workplace tools and AI assistants.

Security and support

Effy says it is designed for GDPR compliance and describes AWS hosting, access controls, MFA, and encryption. It also provides controls to archive or export historical reviews and set deletion policies. Its security page said formal audits and a business continuity plan were not in place when last updated on October 3, 2024, a material consideration for organizations with strict assurance requirements.

That relationship may suit teams that want onboarding support.

Pricing

Effy uses a freemium model. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free, allows up to 5 users, requires no credit card, and has no time limit. It is a practical way for a small team to try the workflow, but the five-user cap rules it out for most of the stated target range.

Goals and OKRs costs 2.00 USD per year, billed annually, and includes SMART goals and OKRs, people and alignment views, PDPs and PIPs, and check-ins. It fits organizations prioritizing goal management, but its stated inclusions do not cover the multiple reviews per user per year offered by the separate 360° Reviews plan. That plan costs 6.00 USD per year, billed annually, and includes multiple reviews per user per year. The pricing note gives paid access from $2/user/mo (annual); confirm the applicable seat cost and plan terms before committing.

Slack is included across plans. The free plan's user limit is the clearest constraint; beyond it, choose a paid plan based on whether goals or repeated reviews are the priority.

Platforms

Effy AI is available on the web. Its Slack app and MCP connections extend workflows into other tools, but do not change its listed platform availability.

Who it's for

Effy says it works best for companies with 30 to 1,000+ employees, including software, financial services, and healthcare organizations. Its varied review formats, goal alignment, and role-structure features make it suited to companies formalizing performance processes as they grow. A company needing formal security audits or a continuity plan should assess those requirements before adopting it.

Pros and cons

Pros: Six review formats with customizable workflows can accommodate different evaluation cycles in one product.
Pros: Cascading goals linked to reviews connect objective tracking with performance discussions.
Pros: Slack feedback capture and reminders are included in all plans, including Free.
Pros: Archive, export, and deletion controls give organizations options for managing historical review data.
Cons: Free supports only five users, limiting its usefulness beyond a small team.
Cons: Formal audits and a business continuity plan were absent as of the security page's October 3, 2024 update, which may not meet some organizations' assurance needs.
Cons: The stated annual plan prices and per-user monthly starting price make it important to confirm the precise billing basis for the intended plan and team.

Alternatives

For role architecture rather than a full performance-management system, JobFrame has a free plan with job profiles, family matrices, an index, open canon, and developer/API documentation; its one-time job mapping is billed at $0.25 per employee row. Job Architecture Software is a category to compare when role structure is the main requirement.

Choose 15Five instead if Android or iOS availability matters; it has no free plan and offers a Kona Meeting Assistant plan at 2.00 USD per year, billed per employee per month annually, with meeting notes, performance snapshots, summaries, and action items. Career Voyager is another paid option with API and web platforms.

COLMEIA Global Job Catalog offers a tailored demo and written proposal mapping costs and options, making it worth considering when a custom job-catalog proposal is the priority. CozyHR has Android and web availability, a free plan and trial, and a Starter plan described as free during early access then 4999.00 INR per month for up to 75 employees. Gloat Skills Foundation is a paid web product with pricing by contacting Gloat or requesting a demo. Styr Dock is a paid web product.

Compensation IQ is a paid web option with a free plan and no free trial; its Job Architecture & Levelling plan is 2500.00 GBP per year, billed annually, for 100–200 employees and one super user. For broader performance-management comparisons, see Performance Management Software.

Verdict

Effy AI is a sensible choice for growing organizations that need several review formats tied to cascading goals, with Slack feedback and AI assistance in the same workflow. Its narrow free cap and the disclosed gaps in formal audits and continuity planning are the clearest reasons to look elsewhere, especially for larger or assurance-sensitive employers.
