Overview

Resume creation, cover-letter writing, job-specific content suggestions and resume checking sit within one service, accessible on web and mobile. That breadth makes MyPerfectResume useful for keeping application materials together, while the free download restriction can make it awkward as a finished-document tool unless you choose a premium plan.

MyPerfectResume was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The service also includes a Bold.pro professional profile and ExpertApply, integrated in 2025 to autofill applications using a resume.

Key features

Guided resume writing and checks

Forty ATS-friendly templates, plus job-specific suggestions written by professional resume analysts and AI, give applicants a structure and wording to adapt for each position. The suggestions can help overcome a blank page, but the finished resume still needs to reflect the applicant’s actual experience. The ATS Resume Checker looks for more than 30 issues and proposes improvements; it adds a useful review step, not a guarantee of a particular hiring outcome.

Cover letters and file handling

Users can generate a matching cover letter from a resume or start one from scratch. The builder and cover-letter generator accept DOC, DOCX, PDF, ODT, HTML, RTF and TXT uploads, which helps when adapting existing material. Free users can create unlimited resumes, but downloads are TXT only. That is a meaningful cap for applicants who need to send formatted documents, even if unlimited drafts are handy for trying different role-specific versions.

Application workflow and mobile use

ExpertApply can autofill applications using a user’s resume, extending the service beyond document preparation. MyPerfectResume is optimized for smartphones and tablets and has Android and iOS apps as well as web access. Support is offered by phone, email or chat, with phone support at 855-213-0348 during weekday and weekend hours.

Pricing

MyPerfectResume uses a freemium model with a free plan and a 14-day trial. The free option supports unlimited resume creation and TXT downloads, making it suitable for drafting and maintaining multiple versions when plain text is enough. It is less suitable for applicants who need more polished downloadable documents.

Basic Access: custom pricing; unlimited TXT downloads. This is the lower-access choice for applicants who mainly need to keep downloading plain-text resumes.
14-Day Premium Access: custom pricing; 40+ customizable templates and checks for 30+ resume issues. It suits applicants who want template choice and feedback for a short period; check the trial terms before relying on continued access.
1-Year Premium Access: custom pricing; 40+ customizable templates and checks for 30+ resume issues. It is the longer-term option for ongoing applications, though the price should be weighed against how long those tools will be needed.

The plans’ prices are custom, so compare the checkout terms before choosing between trial and annual access.

Platforms

MyPerfectResume is available on web, Android and iOS. Its smartphone and tablet optimization makes it a reasonable option for applicants who need to work across devices, though the free download remains plain-text regardless of platform.

Who it's for

Choose MyPerfectResume if you are a job seeker who wants resume drafting, role-specific writing guidance, cover letters and resume checks in one workflow, especially when preparing multiple versions. Look elsewhere if a free, formatted resume download is essential or if you do not need its paid templates and feedback.

Pros and cons

Pro: Unlimited free resume creation makes it practical to maintain separate drafts for different applications.
Pro: Job-specific suggestions, cover-letter generation and checks for more than 30 issues add guidance beyond a blank template.
Pro: Web and mobile access, plus application autofill, support work across the application process.
Con: Free downloads are TXT only, limiting the free plan’s usefulness for applicants who need formatted documents.
Con: Premium plan prices are custom, so the cost cannot be compared from the plan names alone.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse Resume Builders, AI Resume Builders, Cover Letter Software and Resume Design Software.

Kickresume is another freemium option on Android, iOS and web, with no free trial.
Resume Genius has a free plan and trial; its free resume downloads are TXT, while cover-letter downloads include PDF, Word and TXT.
ApplyKit is a free, self-hosted option for readers who prefer to use their own hosted AI provider or local Ollama rather than pay an ApplyKit subscription.
Huntr is worth considering if job tracking matters alongside documents; its free plan tracks up to 100 jobs and includes two job-tailored resumes and two application packets.
MyPerfectCoverLetter is a more focused alternative for someone primarily looking to create cover letters.
Rezi offers a free plan with one resume, one AI interview and three PDF downloads for users who want limited PDF access without a paid plan.
Novorésumé is a web-only alternative; its Basic plan is limited to one version and a one-page resume.

Verdict

MyPerfectResume is a strong choice for job seekers who want guided, role-specific resume writing, cover letters and issue checks in one place, with mobile access and unlimited free drafts. Its main drawback is the TXT-only free download and custom-priced premium access. Choose it if the writing guidance and checks matter more than free formatted exports; look elsewhere if document format or a known price is decisive.
