Overview

Zoho Contracts brings together contract approvals, renewal tracking, built-in templates and e-signatures, with API access. Its Free plan gives a small team a practical starting point, but the limits on contracts, counterparties and workflows may become restrictive as activity grows. API is the only stated platform, so readers looking specifically for a web, desktop or mobile app should weigh that before choosing it.

For a wider category comparison, see Contract Management Software.

Key features

Approval workflows: Free includes one workflow, enough for a simple approval path but not multiple processes. Standard and the higher tiers list unlimited workflows.
Renewal tracking: Renewal tracking is included, making the product relevant to teams that need to keep contract renewals in view.
Contract templates: Free includes two built-in templates. Each paid tier includes 14, giving teams more starting points without requiring them to work from just a pair of templates.
Built-in e-signature: Signing is built into the product, so it covers a key contract step alongside approvals and renewals.
API access: API access is included. API is also the only stated platform, which may be a limitation for buyers seeking a named web or mobile platform.

Pricing

Zoho Contracts is freemium, with a free plan and a 15-day trial. Free costs 0.00 USD per free and allows three users, 10 contracts, five counterparties, one approval workflow and two built-in contract templates. That makes it a useful entry point for a small team with modest volume, but the contract and counterparty caps matter if the service is intended for ongoing, growing use.

Standard has custom pricing and includes 25 contracts per user per month, 500 counterparties, unlimited approval workflows and 14 built-in templates. It is the step up for teams that need multiple approval paths and a substantially larger counterparty allowance, while still working within a per-user monthly contract quota.

Professional and Premium both have custom pricing and include unlimited contracts, counterparties and approval workflows, plus 14 built-in templates. They suit organizations that would outgrow Standard's contract or counterparty limits; the listed allowances do not distinguish the two tiers, so buyers should compare their quoted terms before selecting one. No paid-tier price is given, so a cost comparison requires a quote.

Platforms

Zoho Contracts is cloud-deployed, and API is its only stated platform. That may suit teams building around API access, but is a drawback for readers who want a specifically named app platform.

Who it's for

Choose Zoho Contracts if your team wants approvals, renewal tracking, templates and e-signatures together, and the Free plan's 10-contract and five-counterparty caps are enough to begin. It is a stronger fit for larger operations when unlimited contract and counterparty allowances are important and custom pricing is acceptable. It is less compelling if upfront paid pricing or a stated web or mobile platform is essential to your decision.

Pros and cons

Pros

A useful free starting tier: Three users can share the Free plan, with 10 contracts and five counterparties included.
Core contract steps are covered: Approval workflows, renewal tracking, templates and built-in e-signature address several common contract needs in one service.
Room to scale allowances: Professional and Premium remove the stated contract and counterparty caps and include unlimited workflows.

Cons

Paid costs are hard to compare: Standard, Professional and Premium all have custom pricing rather than a stated price.
Free is tightly capped: One workflow and two templates may constrain teams with varied processes, while 10 contracts and five counterparties limit volume.
Standard retains a contract quota: Its 25 contracts per user per month may not suit teams with heavier volume.
Platform choice is narrow: API is the only stated platform, which may not fit buyers looking for a named web or mobile app.

Alternatives

Contractbook is another freemium option; its Essential plan lists one user, 100 signed contracts per year and five templates.
fynk offers a free plan aimed at individuals and freelancers, with one user and 50 AI credits per user per month.
Docusign CLM is a paid alternative with custom pricing and a Contact Sales plan.
Oneflow may suit readers who want unlimited PDF contracts on a free plan; its paid Business and Enterprise plans require five and 10 users minimum, respectively.
OpenCLM is worth considering if self-hosting matters: its free plan lists unlimited contracts and five e-signatures per month for one user.
Legito offers a free plan with document lifecycle management, customizable workflows and approvals, and electronic signatures.
SpotDraft is a paid alternative with pricing based on users or contract volume, in-house implementation, dedicated customer success and 24/7 support.
Docuville is another freemium contract-management option.

Verdict

Zoho Contracts is a sensible choice for teams that want contract approvals, renewals, templates and e-signatures, and can start within the Free plan's caps or obtain a custom quote for greater capacity. Its main draw is the progression from a small free allowance to unlimited contracts and counterparties on the top tiers. Look elsewhere if you need paid pricing you can assess upfront or a clearly stated web or mobile platform.
