Overview

Eli makes peer feedback part of a repeatable learning cycle: learners respond to criteria-based prompts, plan revisions, submit new drafts, and compare versions. Instructors can use participation and growth signals to see more than whether an assignment was completed. That breadth is valuable for courses where peer review is a teaching method, but may be more platform than needed for a one-off exchange.

Key features

Structured feedback and revision

Criteria-based questions and prompts give reviewers a shared frame, while helpfulness ratings let instructors assess the usefulness of the feedback. Learners can turn comments into revision plans, submit revised drafts, and compare versions to identify changes. Together, these features connect reviewing to actual revision rather than treating feedback as the endpoint. Rubric scoring and double-blind reviewer anonymity support structured assessment and anonymous review.

Course coordination and insight

LMS roster syncing, automatic review groups, reminders, and reusable assignment sequences reduce the coordination work of running peer review repeatedly. Analytics track participation, effort, and reciprocity, and classify learners as Strong, Steady, Emerging, or Stalled. Data Stories surface patterns in those measures and growth over time, giving instructors a basis for noticing engagement trends. Eli does not offer gradebook sync, so it is not a complete bridge from peer activity to course grades.

Data, privacy, and accessibility

Eli says it does not claim ownership of educational materials created on the platform, does not sell user data, and aims to collect only information needed to provide and support the service. It describes reasonable technical and organizational safeguards for entrusted information. The maker works toward WCAG and Section 508 requirements; its accessibility report covers the student-side web application and includes WCAG 2.2 A and AA standards. These commitments are relevant to institutional adoption, though they do not replace a course’s own accessibility review.

Pricing

Instructor access is free at 0.00 USD per free, with unlimited courses and all platform features. This makes it possible for instructors to use the full platform without a course-count cap, but students need paid access.

Student access — One Term: 28.95 USD per once, valid for 4 months and intended for one term. It fits a single-term course without requiring a year-long purchase.
Student access — One Year: 52.95 USD per year, valid for 12 months. It suits learners who need access across a full year; the term plan costs less upfront but ends sooner.
Department or institution purchase: custom pricing, with arrangements shaped by program size, anticipated usage, and implementation goals. It includes professional development support, program-level engagement analytics, LMS integration support, and implementation guidance, making it the institutional route for coordinated adoption.

The student plans are time-limited, while instructors retain free access. Institutions considering LMS integration should look to the department or institution purchase, which includes integration support.

Platforms

Eli Review is available on the web. Its LMS roster syncing can support course setup, but gradebook sync is not offered.

Who it's for

Eli is best suited to higher education and K12 educators who build peer review and revision into instruction and want to coordinate those activities while tracking participation and growth. It is less compelling for instructors seeking only a simple, free student workflow, since student access is paid and the platform’s analytics and course-planning tools may exceed the needs of occasional peer review.

Pros and cons

Pro: The linked feedback, revision plans, and draft comparisons make it easier to treat peer response as a step toward improvement, not just a review exercise.
Pro: Unlimited free instructor courses, reusable sequences, and LMS roster syncing help support recurring course use.
Pro: Participation, effort, reciprocity, and growth signals give instructors a richer view of engagement than completion alone.
Con: Students must pay 28.95 USD per once for a four-month term or 52.95 USD per year, which adds a cost for every learner.
Con: No gradebook sync means instructors may need to handle grade transfer separately.

Alternatives

Browse the Peer Assessment Software category to compare options. Choose CrowdGrader if a per-assignment model capped at 20 students is a better fit. Kritik360 offers free educator access and course activation, instructional design, and ongoing support. Pick PeerEvals if a free core tool with no paid tier is the priority. Expertiza is an open-source option with Linux, macOS, self-hosted, and web availability. TEAMMATES is another free web option, though its service may change or end at its discretion. ComPAIR offers free web and self-hosted access. PeerAssessment.com is worth considering for its Android, iOS, and web availability and a trial covering one class, one term, one instructor, up to 100 students, and 12 assessments. Peerceptiv is an option for institutions seeking campus-wide subscriptions with unrestricted use, an administrator dashboard, and a custom API.

Verdict

Choose Eli Review if you teach courses where structured peer feedback, revision, and engagement tracking belong in a coordinated workflow. Its free, unlimited instructor access and broad course tools are strong advantages, but student access costs money and the lack of gradebook sync may be a drawback. Look elsewhere if students need a free core experience or your main requirement is direct gradebook integration.
