Overview

The core mixer offers beat and BPM detection, beat sync, live waveforms, three-band EQ, vinyl scratching, and beat-matched loops. Smart Transition beatmatches and mixes between decks, while Auto-DJ can run a playlist hands-free. These options can ease transitions or keep music moving, but DJs who want to control every change may prefer to mix manually.

Desktop plays local audio and video files, but does not stream from Spotify. There is no cloud library sync, so it is less suited to users who need their collection synchronized across devices. Audio is processed locally and is not uploaded to the maker’s servers; the privacy policy also describes anonymized usage analytics and crash or performance data.

Key features

Desktop video and stems

The desktop app mixes video across two decks, with more than 25 GPU effects, 41 transitions, and 13 visual overlays. Real-time stem separation can split tracks into vocals, melody, bass, and beat. That combination gives video DJs and VJs reasons to favor desktop over the browser mixer, which has no video support.

Controllers and output

Desktop supports MIDI controllers and can send mixed video to a projector or second screen in 1080p. That is useful for performances built around a visual display; those who only need browser-based audio mixing can use the simpler Online Mixer instead.

Pricing

Online Mixer

The Online Mixer costs 0.00 USD per free, requires no account, and provides browser-based mixing without video or MIDI support. It is a straightforward starting point for audio mixing, but not a substitute for desktop when controllers or visuals matter.

Desktop

The free desktop download has all features unlocked, but each session is limited to 30 minutes before relaunching. The 39.99 USD per once Desktop license removes that timer and includes lifetime updates. The maker says both free and licensed desktop versions can be used for commercial gigs, so occasional users can try the full feature set before paying, while frequent performers avoid interruptions with the license.

iOS

The iOS Pro subscription costs 29.99 USD per year and unlocks all sound effects and premium features. It fits iOS users who want those additions; the free iOS option is not detailed here, so the Pro subscription is the only iOS plan with a stated price and feature set.

Platforms

ClubDJ Pro is available for iOS, macOS, Windows, and the web. Desktop requires 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, or macOS 12 Monterey or later. Video mixing and MIDI support are desktop features, while the browser version is limited to audio mixing.

Who it's for

The maker describes the desktop app for mobile and wedding DJs, video DJs and VJs, beginners, and DJs moving from subscription software. It is particularly compelling for performers who want video, stem separation, and local-file mixing without an ongoing desktop license fee. DJs who rely on Spotify streaming or synced cloud libraries should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Desktop combines video mixing, real-time stem separation, MIDI control, and 1080p output, covering audio and visual performance in one app.
Pro: The free desktop download unlocks all features and allows commercial gigs, making it possible to assess the full desktop toolkit before buying.
Con: Free desktop sessions stop after 30 minutes and require a relaunch, an inconvenient interruption for longer sets.
Con: The browser mixer lacks video and MIDI, and desktop uses local files rather than Spotify streaming.
Con: No cloud library sync makes it a poor fit for DJs who need a shared library across devices.

Alternatives

For more DJ software options, see DJ Software.

VirtualDJ is worth comparing if you need Android support or a free plan that is limited to nonprofessional use without professional equipment.
djay is an alternative for Android users who want a free download with core mixing features and an optional PRO subscription for advanced features.
rekordbox may fit better if basic music management and DJ features, plus a cloud allowance of 1,000 tracks and one synced device, matter more.
Cross DJ is another freemium option for Android users.
Mixxx is a fully free alternative for Linux users, with no official paid or pro version.
DJUCED may suit Hercules controller owners seeking a free standard plan with four decks and MIDI control.
future.dj pro has a free lifetime plan for noncommercial or home use, with two decks and limited controller support.
Serato DJ Pro is another option, with a plan priced at 11.99 USD per month.

Verdict

ClubDJ Pro is a strong choice for DJs who want desktop video mixing, stems, MIDI control, and automated transitions without committing to a recurring desktop fee. The free desktop sessions make it possible to use the full feature set before buying, but the 30-minute cutoff is a real constraint for longer sets. Choose it for local-file audio and video performance; look elsewhere if Spotify streaming or cloud library sync is essential.
