Overview

Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud is a web platform for coordinating nonprofit fundraising, service programs, grantmaking and outcome tracking. It best suits organizations that need those activities connected across teams; smaller groups looking mainly for donor records may find its scope and annual per-user terms more than they need. Its strongest case is bringing donor, program and impact work into one environment.

Key features

Fundraising combines donor profiles and reusable audience segments with gift entry and tools for commitments, designations, soft credits and tributes. Campaign management, online donation forms, recurring gifts, automated receipts and advanced reporting support a broad donor workflow. That breadth can help teams manage connected fundraising tasks, but it is more system than a basic donor database requires.

Volunteer tools cover events, roles, shifts, locations, attendance, applications and engagement history, with self-service sign-up through Experience Cloud. Program tracking includes enrollment, attendance, services and benefits; outcome tools let teams define outcomes and targets, record results and collect assessment data. This combination is particularly relevant to organizations that need to relate service delivery to measured results.

Grantmaking supports publishing funding opportunities, proposal collaboration, grant awards, budgets and disbursements. Salesforce also highlights connections with Marketing Cloud, Data 360, Slack and OmniStudio, plus partner apps such as Classy, DonorDrive, WealthEngine and AmpImpact. Accounting Subledger consolidates information between Salesforce CRM and an organization’s accounting system to support accounting work.

Salesforce describes security and privacy audits, certifications, and administrative, technical and physical controls in its trust documentation. The Advanced plan adds Full Sandbox, Backup & Recover, Archive, Data Detect and Security Center, a meaningful distinction for organizations that need those specific security and data-management capabilities.

Pricing

The pricing model is freemium, with a free plan and a 30-day trial. Eligible nonprofits can receive 10 free Nonprofit Cloud or Sales/Service Cloud licenses through the Power of Us Program. This is a practical way for qualifying organizations to begin without a license charge, though the free offer is limited to those 10 licenses.

Nonprofit Cloud Sales & Service Core is billed at $70 USD/User/Month (Billed annually). It includes the Nonprofit Data Model, Nonprofit Toolkit, Accounting Subledger Growth, flex credits for AI, Agentforce and Data, Slack Business+ with Slackbot, Tableau Next and Premier Success Plan. This is the paid entry point for organizations needing the core nonprofit model and toolkit; the annual per-user commitment means costs rise with the number of licensed users.

Nonprofit Cloud Sales & Service Advanced is billed at $125 USD/User/Month (Billed annually). It includes everything in Core plus more AI, storage, automation and security, as well as Full Sandbox, Backup & Recover, Archive, Data Detect, Security Center, Help Agent, Customer Signals Intelligence and Sales Programs. It is the better fit when those added capabilities justify the higher seat price; organizations that do not need them can avoid that premium with Core.

Salesforce also gives a paid-from figure of $60/user/mo (annual), while the named Core plan is priced at $70 USD/User/Month (Billed annually). Per-user products require an annual contract. Salesforce says listed prices are informational, subject to change, and that detailed pricing requires contacting sales, so confirm the applicable quote before budgeting.

Platforms

Nonprofit Cloud is available on the web. Its volunteer self-service sign-up uses Experience Cloud, and the platform’s integration story includes other Salesforce products and named partner apps.

Who it's for

Salesforce describes the platform as designed for nonprofits, charities, social housing associations and social businesses. It is most compelling for organizations that need fundraising, volunteer coordination, program delivery, grantmaking and outcome measurement to work as connected operations. A team that needs only fundraising or a lightweight donor-management system should compare narrower options before taking on a broad annual subscription.

Pros and cons

Pros: Fundraising, volunteer, program, outcome and grantmaking workflows share one platform, which suits organizations managing more than donor records.
Pros: Ten free licenses for eligible nonprofits provide a defined starting point, and the 30-day trial allows a time-limited evaluation.
Pros: Accounting Subledger and the listed Salesforce and partner integrations offer routes to connect related systems.
Cons: Per-user plans require annual contracts, making seat count central to the budget and less suited to organizations seeking flexible monthly purchasing.
Cons: Advanced costs substantially more per user than Core; its added security, storage, automation and AI make sense only if the organization needs those capabilities.
Cons: The platform’s broad remit can be unnecessary for teams seeking only donor management or a single fundraising workflow.

Alternatives

For a narrower donor or nonprofit CRM shortlist, compare Donor Management Software and Nonprofit CRM Software; teams prioritizing service delivery can also browse Nonprofit Program Management Software.

CiviCRM is worth considering for organizations seeking a freemium web CRM with unlimited users and a Starter plan of 15.00 USD per month billed per instance, covering up to 5,000 contacts and most CiviCRM components. Choose it when that stated contact-based package fits better than Salesforce’s per-user annual structure.

Funraise offers a free plan for organizations raising under $1 million annually and supports Android, iOS, web and API platforms. It may suit a qualifying organization looking for a fundraising-focused option with a free tier and broader stated platform coverage.

Bloomerang is a paid, multi-platform option whose Bloomerang Fundraising plan starts at 40.00 USD per month billed annually, but must be purchased in a bundle with Bloomerang CRM. Consider it when that fundraising-and-CRM bundle is a better match.

CharityEngine is a paid option with donation forms, giving pages, email workflows, event management, segmentation, direct mail and reporting. It is an alternative for organizations centered on those fundraising functions.

Donorfy is a freemium web-based alternative. Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT is a paid alternative. DonorPerfect is a paid option with fundraising suites starting at 99.00 USD per month and including customizable dashboards, online forms and email marketing. Keela is a web-based option without a free plan; its 1001-2500 contacts annual plan is 243.00 USD per month.

Verdict

Choose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud if your organization needs fundraising, programs, volunteers, grants and outcome measurement connected in one platform, and can justify annual per-user pricing. Its integrated scope is the central reason to choose it. Look elsewhere if donor management alone is the goal or the annual seat commitment does not suit your budget.
