Overview

Keepsafe Photo Vault is a mobile app for keeping photos, videos, and documents behind PIN or biometric access. It is best suited to people who want a private place for personal images and document copies, with cloud backup for recovery or use on another device. Its combination of access controls and backup is useful, but the free tier’s 200-item ceiling makes it a limited long-term option for larger collections.

Key features

Vault access can require a PIN, fingerprint, or Face ID. Custom albums give users a way to sort family photos, memories, and documents; Premium adds separate passwords for individual albums. That extra separation is useful when a single vault contains material with different privacy needs, but it is not part of the free plan.

Keepsafe can sync encrypted vault items to a private cloud, supporting recovery or access on another device. The company says photos and videos are protected with 256-bit AES encryption at rest, backups are encrypted, and employees cannot access or view users’ content. These are meaningful stated safeguards for private files, though they do not replace protecting the device and account.

Premium adds a Decoy Vault with its own PIN and Intruder Alerts that take a photo after an incorrect PIN attempt. Space Saver compresses photos on the device while saving originals to the cloud, which can help when device storage is scarce. Safe Send shares pictures from Keepsafe for a limited time. A private camera is also included among the app’s features, though it is not a reason on its own to pay for Premium.

Pricing

Keepsafe Basic is free and includes up to 200 cloud items, with ads. That is enough for a small selection of files or for trying the vault, but the cap is restrictive for anyone looking to preserve a growing photo library.

Keepsafe Premium Monthly costs 9.99 USD per month and supports up to 10,000 cloud items with Premium features. It renews automatically unless cancelled. The monthly plan suits someone who wants the larger quota and privacy tools for a limited period, but its recurring monthly price is a costly way to keep using them long term.

Keepsafe Premium Yearly costs 23.99 USD per year, also with up to 10,000 cloud items and Premium features; it renews automatically unless cancelled. It is the more practical paid choice for users who expect to keep the service, trading a longer commitment for a substantially lower stated price than paying monthly throughout a year.

Keepsafe Premium Lifetime has custom pricing and supports up to 100,000 cloud items with Premium features. Its larger quota fits people with extensive collections who want a lifetime plan, but the price needs to be weighed before choosing it.

New accounts are offered a complimentary 30-day Premium trial, and Keepsafe says it does not automatically charge when the trial ends. That makes it possible to try the paid features without an automatic conversion to a subscription.

Platforms

Keepsafe is available on Android and iOS, including use on phones and tablets. Face ID is an option for iPhone users; fingerprint access is supported as well.

Who it's for

Keepsafe makes sense for people who want one protected place for personal or family photos, memories, and copies of identity or credit cards, particularly if cloud recovery matters. Premium is the better fit for users who need more than 200 backed-up items, separate album passwords, a Decoy Vault, Intruder Alerts, or Space Saver. If a small, ad-supported vault is enough, Basic avoids a subscription; if a large library is the goal, its item limit is a clear reason to upgrade or choose another app.

Pros and cons

Pros: PIN and biometric access, custom albums, and encrypted cloud backup combine privacy controls with a way to recover items or use them on another device.
Pros: Premium’s Decoy Vault and Intruder Alerts add specific privacy features beyond basic vault access.
Pros: The 23.99 USD per year plan raises the cloud limit to 10,000 items and includes Premium features.
Cons: The free plan includes ads and caps cloud backup at 200 items, which is too small for many ongoing collections.
Cons: Monthly Premium costs 9.99 USD per month and automatically renews unless cancelled, making the short-term option expensive to maintain.
Cons: Individual album passwords and the other Premium privacy and storage tools require a paid plan.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Photo Vault Apps. PhotoGuard is an Android-only freemium alternative if Android availability is sufficient. Weave Vault offers up to three vaults and 50 files per vault on its free plan, making it worth considering for someone who prefers several smaller vaults to Keepsafe’s single 200-item free allowance.

Obscura Photo Vault is an iOS option with a free single vault capped at 50 photos; its 6.99 USD per month Pro plan offers unlimited photos and videos and unlimited vaults. It may suit iOS users who value those higher Pro limits and can accept a monthly plan. Private Photo Vault is another Android and iOS choice; its Basic plan keeps photos and videos on-device, but cloud backup is deleted when switching to Basic, so it is less suitable if retaining backup matters.

Secret Album: Photo Vault is an iPhone and iPad option with encrypted storage for photos and videos. Android users may prefer Vaulty, whose free plan includes ads and automatic Google Drive backup. GalleryVault is an Android and iOS alternative with a 9.90 CNY per month plan that includes 100GB of cloud storage and several access controls. Magic Photo Vault is another Android and iOS option.

Verdict

Keepsafe Photo Vault is a strong fit for mobile users who want protected photos, videos, and documents backed up to an encrypted cloud, with Premium privacy controls available when needed. The yearly plan is the sensible paid choice for users who need its 10,000-item allowance over time. Choose another vault if you need a more generous free tier, or if the recurring cost and limits of Keepsafe’s plans do not fit your collection.
