Overview

Buildxact is construction software for residential builders who want to carry an estimate into job coordination rather than manage those tasks separately. Its strongest case is the combination of digital takeoffs, dealer pricing and project tools; the trade-off is a meaningful annual commitment for paid plans, while useful mobile syncing starts at Pro.

Key features

Estimating and material pricing

Builders can upload PDF plans, make digital takeoffs and prepare job estimates. Dealer connections add real-time material pricing and quote requests, a useful link between quantities and purchasing costs. Go offers only five complimentary credits, so it is a limited way to try the estimating workflow rather than an ongoing free option for regular jobs.

From estimate to active job

Scheduling, cost tracking, site management, invoicing and customer communication extend the product beyond estimating. Bid management, field reporting and project financials are also included capabilities. That breadth suits builders who want one system to coordinate work after a proposal; those seeking only takeoff or estimating tools may be paying for more than they need.

Blu and integrations

Blu provides AI assistance for estimating, takeoffs, estimate review and assembly. Its availability depends on the plan and add-ons: Foundation includes Assembly Assistant, while Estimate Generator costs an additional $99/mo there; Pro includes Estimate Generator but charges extra for Takeoff Assistant and Estimate Reviewer. Master includes all three tools. Accounting integrations include Xero, QuickBooks and MYOB AccountRight, though QuickBooks support excludes Simple Start and applies to online versions.

Mobile work and security

Buildxact Onsite is offered for iOS and Android so crews can view and update job information. However, syncing jobs and the site diary requires Pro or Teams, which makes Foundation a less complete fit for teams that rely on mobile field updates. Buildxact says customer data is held in Microsoft Azure, encrypted in transit and at rest, and protected by access controls and automated backups; its stated monitoring and compliance includes ISO 27001 and SOC 2. Subscription support includes training, webinars, a knowledge base and one-to-one consultation.

Pricing

Go is free and includes five complimentary credits, AI estimating, professional proposals and Home Depot material ordering. The credit cap makes it best for occasional use or an initial look, not a high-volume estimating workflow.

Foundation costs 169.00 USD per month, billed annually at $2,030, with a 12-month commitment. It includes unlimited users, lead management, digital takeoffs, Blu Assembly Assistant, purchase orders, training and support. It does not include job management, schedules or Onsite mobile syncing; Estimate Generator is a $99/mo add-on. Foundation fits teams focused on leads and estimates more than field coordination.

Pro costs 339.00 USD per month, billed annually at $4,070, also with a 12-month commitment. It adds Foundation features plus Estimate Generator, job management, schedules and the Onsite app. Takeoff Assistant costs an extra $99/mo and Estimate Reviewer $149/mo. This is the more practical tier for builders coordinating active jobs and needing mobile syncing.

Master costs 509.00 USD per month, billed annually at $6,110, with a 12-month commitment. It adds Takeoff Assistant, Estimate Reviewer, user access controls and priority support to Pro. It is aimed at teams that need the full Blu toolset and finer access administration; smaller teams may not need those upgrades. A 14-day trial is offered.

Platforms

Buildxact is available on web, Android and iOS. Onsite extends job viewing and updates to mobile devices, but job and site-diary syncing is limited to Pro or Teams.

Who it's for

Buildxact is best suited to residential builders who want estimating, dealer material pricing and project coordination in a connected workflow. Foundation can suit estimate-focused teams, while Pro is the clearer fit for active job scheduling and field syncing. It is less compelling for users who need only estimating or who require mobile syncing at the lowest paid tier.

Pros and cons

Pro: PDF takeoffs, estimates and dealer quote requests connect estimating to material costs.
Pro: Scheduling, cost tracking, invoicing and field reporting support work beyond the bid stage.
Pro: Foundation and Pro include unlimited users, avoiding per-seat limits on those plans.
Con: The free plan is capped at five credits, limiting its usefulness for repeated estimating.
Con: Paid annual plans require a 12-month commitment, and the entry paid plan lacks job management and mobile syncing.
Con: Some Blu tools require costly add-ons below Master, so the advertised AI breadth can raise the effective bill.

Alternatives

Beam is worth considering for a smaller team wanting a free web-based option: its Core plan supports up to two users and five free AI estimates, with unlimited estimates, projects, invoices and payments. Its listed platform is web, unlike Buildxact's mobile availability.

BuildBook is another alternative for builders comparing annual plans, with Solo at 79.00 USD per month for one user and Team at 149.00 USD per month for two to nine users. Hyphen CRM is a paid option to consider if a CRM is the priority. ClickHome is a paid alternative with a free trial and a broader set of listed platforms, including Windows and self-hosted. BuildTools Bidding starts at 499.00 USD per month with a 12-month commitment and guided onboarding. Build Method starts at 99.00 USD per month for one user on an annual term. Foundation starts at 199.00 USD per month for its base plan, plus an $8 service fee. Nexvia is a paid option with a published Core price of $900/pm in AUD, excluding GST.

Verdict

Choose Buildxact if you are a residential builder who wants estimates, dealer pricing and project coordination under one roof, and can justify its annual plan commitment. Its main advantage is the path from takeoff to active job management; look elsewhere if you need mobile syncing on the entry paid plan, want a genuinely open-ended free tier or only need estimating.
