Overview

Boddle is a game-based learning platform for children in kindergarten through grade 6, with math, English language arts, and science practice. It suits elementary teachers, families, and homeschoolers who want adaptive activities alongside progress tracking. Its strongest case is the combination of classroom reporting and a substantial free school platform; family users who want parent-portal features need Premium.

Key features

Boddle adjusts its learning roadmap to a student’s performance, so practice can respond to how a learner is doing rather than follow one fixed sequence. Its premium page describes more than 2,000 skills and 48,500 questions, rationales, and explainer videos. Teachers can assign standards-aligned skills and review mastery by student, skill, and standard, making the reporting useful for monitoring class progress as well as assigning practice.

Google Classroom and Clever sign-on and roster syncing support classroom setup. For students, text-to-speech, question explanations, a scratchpad, and placement testing offer several forms of learning support. Boddle says it complies with COPPA, FERPA, and SOPPA and holds KidSafeSeal certification; it also says there is no player-to-player chat and users cannot share personal information.

Pricing

Boddle is freemium. Its full learning platform is free for teachers and schools, with Premium as an optional add-on. The Basic plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes all learning content, many in-game features, and 35,000+ student questions. That makes the free option a strong fit for schools seeking core learning and teacher tools without a subscription, while paid plans chiefly add family-facing perks.

Yearly Premium is 4.08 USD per year, billed $48.99 billed yearly, and includes Premium game perks, a parent portal, and 1,200 Boddle Bucks monthly. Monthly Premium is 9.99 USD per month, billed $9.99 billed monthly, with the same stated perks and monthly Boddle Bucks. The annual option costs less per month when paid yearly; monthly billing avoids that yearly commitment but costs more over a year. Premium Annual is also shown at 4.08 USD per month (billed billed annually), and Premium Monthly at 9.99 USD per month (billed billed monthly). No seat caps or trial terms are stated for these plans.

Platforms

Boddle runs in web browsers on Chromebooks and laptops and offers Android 9+ and iOS 12+ apps. Browser access suits school devices as well as households that prefer not to use a mobile app. Support is available through Boddle’s support center and by email at contact@boddlelearning.com.

Who it's for

Boddle is best suited to K–6 classrooms that want adaptive practice across three subjects and teacher views of standards-aligned mastery. Families and homeschoolers can also use it, particularly if they value game-based learning and are comfortable with the free plan’s emphasis on learning content rather than the paid parent portal. It is less compelling for learners outside elementary grades or readers looking for a single-subject tool.

Pros and cons

Pros: A free school platform includes the core learning content, while teacher assignments and mastery reports support classroom use.
Pros: Math, English language arts, and science, plus adaptive sequencing, make the offering broader than a single-subject practice app.
Pros: Text-to-speech, explanations, a scratchpad, and placement testing give students several kinds of support.
Cons: Premium is needed for a parent portal and Premium game perks, so families wanting those features must pay.
Cons: The K–6 scope makes it a poor match for older students or anyone seeking advanced subject material.

Alternatives

For a broader menu of educational games, browse Educational Games; for math-focused options, see Math Learning Apps.

ABCmouse is worth considering for families who want a free tier capped at 10 activities per day, one child profile, and ad-free use, with a free trial also offered. Choose GCompris instead for a free suite of more than 100 activities across Android, Linux, macOS, and Windows. Mission US is a free alternative for history-focused games, with registration required for the full game and access through web, downloads, Chromebook, and iPad.

Teach Your Monster to Read is a focused choice for reading games, which can be played free on its website using a computer or laptop. Kodable may suit families seeking coding activities and up to four child profiles on its paid plans. Legends of Learning is another web-based classroom option, with a free Basic Teacher plan limited to one teacher seat and three concurrent live and queued assignments. For a free math app with five multi-level activities and no ads or subscriptions, choose Moose Math. Buddi is a free budgeting software option rather than a learning game.

Verdict

Boddle is a sound choice for K–6 teachers who want adaptive, multi-subject practice paired with standards-aligned assignments and mastery reports, especially since its full learning platform is free for schools. Families who need the parent portal or Premium game perks should weigh the paid plan; those seeking older-grade content or a specialized subject tool should look elsewhere.
