Overview

Impactive brings peer-to-peer and broadcast texting together with phone banking, relational messaging, canvassing, voter registration, and custom forms. That breadth is useful when one team is coordinating several outreach methods; organizations seeking only a basic texting service may not need such a wide organizing toolkit. Founded in 2017, the company is now part of ActBlue.

Key features

Texting and safeguards

Peer-to-peer tools cover list management, reporting, dynamic scripts, conversation reassignment, and volunteer protection features. A shared team inbox supports coordinated conversations, while SMS, MMS, and automated opt-in tools cover common campaign messaging needs. Opt-out monitoring, limits on frequent messages, and filters for landlines, disconnected numbers, and numbers with recent errors help reduce avoidable texting problems.

Texting requires approved 10DLC registration before launch. Registration through Impactive is free, but the current 1–3 week approval timeline can be a serious constraint for a campaign starting on a short schedule.

Integrations and support

Native integrations include NGP VAN/EveryAction, PDI, Salsa Labs, and ActBlue. NGP VAN/EveryAction and PDI support two-way sync, with data syncing near real time, reducing the need for manual transfers between those systems. Enterprise clients can use Postgres mirror databases, query a live database, or build custom pipelines with S3 sync. Impactive also says it works with third-party firms on ongoing security audits and bug bounty programs.

Written and video documentation and helpdesk ticketing are listed across the offering. Professional and Enterprise add weekly training and office hours; Enterprise also includes a dedicated strategy advisor. That higher-tier support is most relevant to teams needing regular guidance or deeper data integration.

Pricing

Standard costs 0.00 USD per free for the licensing fee, with pay-as-you-go usage. It includes 1,000 unique form responses per month; SMS starts as low as 1.5¢ per segment, MMS costs 5¢ per message, and phone banking starts as low as 4¢ per dial. This makes Standard a practical entry point for organizations with modest form needs, but the free license does not mean free outreach: texting and calling costs depend on use.

Professional has custom pricing and includes 5,000 unique form responses per month, plus pay-as-you-go texting and calling. It is a better fit for teams whose form volume exceeds Standard's included cap and who value weekly training and office hours. Enterprise also has custom pricing, raises the included monthly form allowance to 10,000, and adds full-service data integration alongside pay-as-you-go texting and calling. Its data options and dedicated strategy advisor are aimed at organizations with more demanding integration needs.

Impactive says it requires no contracts or minimums, and list scrubbing and 10DLC registration are free. The paid usage model still warrants budgeting around message and call volume. Professional and Enterprise provide larger form allowances, but no licensing prices are stated for either tier.

Platforms

Impactive is available on Android, iOS, and the web, giving teams options for mobile organizing and browser-based work.

Who it's for

Impactive is a strong fit for advocacy organizations, nonprofits, unions, and electoral campaigns that coordinate multiple outreach channels and already work with supported organizing or fundraising systems. Its free licensing tier can suit a smaller operation starting out, while the form caps and pay-as-you-go usage make volume planning important. A group needing immediate texting should account for the registration wait; a team needing only one lightweight communication tool may find the broader platform unnecessary.

Pros and cons

Pro: Multiple outreach methods sit in one platform, which can help teams coordinate texting, calling, canvassing, and voter engagement.
Pro: Two-way, near-real-time sync with NGP VAN/EveryAction and PDI can reduce manual data handoffs for organizations using those systems.
Pro: Texting safeguards and conversation reassignment support safer, more coordinated volunteer messaging.
Con: Standard's 1,000 monthly form-response allowance may be limiting for larger campaigns, while higher tiers move to custom pricing.
Con: Outreach is pay as you go, so the $0 Standard license does not cap overall campaign costs.
Con: The 1–3 week 10DLC approval timeline can delay a time-sensitive texting program.

Alternatives

Peer-to-Peer Texting Software is a useful category comparison for readers who want to evaluate texting-focused options. Choose CallHub instead if its free trial or broader platform availability, including Windows and macOS, better suits your team. TextNow is a different kind of choice: its free plan offers unlimited talk and text, but requires an active TextNow SIM and is not presented as a campaign organizing suite. Empower App may suit approved 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and labor organizations seeking free access to organizer and activist smartphone apps.

OutreachCircle offers a free Supporter Action Hub plan for teams looking for that specific offering. UpVote Campaigns uses quote-based pricing. Hustle is a paid alternative with a $250.00 USD per month platform fee and $0.04 per SMS segment under its PAYGO plan, rather than Impactive's free licensing tier. Rally Corp Peer-to-Peer Texting starts at $99.00 USD per month for Starter, which includes one user and 1,000 monthly or 12,000 yearly credits. Reach may be worth considering for small organizations under 150,000 records; its Basics plan is $115.00 USD per month.

Verdict

Choose Impactive if your organization needs a coordinated organizing toolkit, supported integrations, and texting safeguards without a subscription fee to begin. The main trade-offs are pay-as-you-go outreach costs and a registration process that can delay texting for weeks. Teams needing a narrow tool, predictable all-in pricing, or an immediate texting launch should look elsewhere.
