Overview

A centralized dashboard brings together web-file scanning, traffic filtering and shared IP reputation defenses. The combination addresses both malicious files already on a server and suspicious requests aimed at its websites. Automatic quarantine and remediation can help limit manual response work, while the product’s server focus means its broad platform list should not be mistaken for general-purpose device antivirus.

Key features

Malware scanning and response: Quick and scheduled scans use cloud AI analysis to look for malicious PHP, webshells and backdoors in web files. Automatic quarantine and remediation make this useful for operators who need a response as well as detection, though the scanning focus is on web-server threats.
Web application firewall: The WAF inspects HTTP traffic and blocks suspicious requests, including SQL injection, XSS and CMS exploits, before they reach websites. That is a meaningful layer for site operators, not a substitute for endpoint protection.
Shared IP intelligence: BitNinja’s Defense Network shares attack information across protected Linux servers to block malicious IPs. Its value is greatest for organizations protecting server infrastructure rather than a single personal device.
Integrations and compatibility: Integrations include 360 Monitoring, cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, Enhance, ISPmanager and REST API endpoints. Compatibility includes Apache, NGINX, LiteSpeed, OpenLiteSpeed, Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Red Hat, CentOS and VzLinux, giving hosting teams several common server environments to work with.
Support and access: The small-business page says premium support is available 24/7 for setup, alerts and questions. However, terms allow threat hunters to gain root-level access to a protected server through the agent when investigating an unknown threat; administrators should weigh that access carefully.

Pricing

BitNinja uses a freemium model, with plans sized by server resources or hosted users. Paid Server Protection plans begin with a full-functionality seven-calendar-day trial after installation, and no payment information is needed to start.

Plan	Price	Limits and fit
VPS Free	0.00 USD per free	Up to 2 vCPU, 2 GB RAM and 10 hosted users; a bounded starting point for a small VPS.
VPS 6	6.00 USD per month	Up to 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM and 10 hosted users; suits a somewhat larger VPS with the same user cap. The page also shows $8.
Solo	9.00 USD per month	Up to 1 hosted user; bulk pricing for 5 or more servers is $5 /mo. A narrow fit for one-user hosting. The page also shows $16.
Standard	19.00 USD per month	2–40 hosted users; bulk pricing for 5 or more servers is $12 /mo. It fits small hosting operations beyond a single hosted user. The page also shows $29.
Pro	29.00 USD per month	41–250 hosted users; bulk pricing for 5 or more servers is $16 /mo. This tier accommodates larger user counts. The page also shows $42.
Unlimited	39.00 USD per month	Unlimited hosted users; bulk pricing for 5 or more servers is $23 /mo. It removes the stated user ceiling. The page also shows $52.

The lower tiers trade capacity for a lower entry price: VPS plans cap both server resources and hosted users, while Solo through Pro cap hosted users. The listed prices and the additional prices shown on the page differ, so confirm the applicable charge before choosing a plan. Paid plans start at $8/mo according to the pricing note, while the VPS 6 plan is also shown as 6.00 USD per month.

Platforms

BitNinja lists Android, iOS, Linux, API, self-hosted and web platforms, alongside server compatibility for several Linux distributions and web servers. Its intended use remains Linux server security, so mobile platform listings do not make it a general mobile security suite. Services are unavailable to customers in Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria due to sanctions restrictions. Its privacy policy says personal-data processing is subject to GDPR and Brazil’s LGPD and states compliance with California’s CCPA.

Who it's for

Hosting providers, server owners and VPS operators managing shared or dedicated servers are the strongest candidates. The combination of web-file scans, a WAF, shared IP defenses and hosting-panel integrations maps directly to their responsibilities. People seeking a free tool for personal Windows or macOS devices should look elsewhere; BitNinja’s plans and defenses are organized around hosted servers.

Pros and cons

Pro: Scanning, quarantine, automated remediation and a WAF address detection and response across both files and incoming web traffic.
Pro: Panel integrations and support for multiple server distributions and web servers can fit varied hosting setups.
Pro: The seven-day full-functionality trial starts without payment information.
Con: Free and lower-cost plans have explicit CPU, memory or hosted-user caps, which can constrain growing servers or hosting businesses.
Con: Threat-hunter root-level access is a significant operational consideration for administrators evaluating server access controls.
Con: The displayed plan amounts differ from the additional prices shown for several tiers, making price confirmation prudent.

Alternatives

For broader category browsing, see Malware Removal Software or Web Application Firewall Software.

ClamAV is a free, open-source antivirus engine for Linux, macOS, Windows, API and self-hosted use; choose it when a free engine matters more than BitNinja’s stated hosting-oriented combination of WAF, shared IP defenses and automated response.
Microsoft Quick Assist is free and focused on support interactions through Windows, macOS and web; choose it for that support use rather than server security.
Certo AntiSpy offers free spyware detection, threat removal and a privacy audit across Android, iOS, macOS and Windows; it is a better match for those device-focused needs.
Comodo Internet Security is a Windows freemium option with antivirus, firewall, security features and updates; consider it for Windows protection rather than Linux hosting defenses.
Spybot – Search & Destroy offers a free Windows edition with anti-spyware scanning and removal, rootkit scanning, system immunization and startup tools; choose it for those Windows-focused tasks.
Dr.Web CureIt! offers one-time scanning on Windows; it suits a one-off scan rather than ongoing server protection.
Dr.Web LiveDisk is a free Linux and Windows recovery tool using a DVD or USB drive; choose it for system recovery rather than continuous server security.
ESET Mobile Security for Android has a free lifetime basic plan and a premium option for Android phones and tablets; it is the more relevant choice for Android device security.

Verdict

BitNinja is a strong shortlist choice for hosting providers and server operators who want file scanning, web-traffic filtering and automated response in one server-focused suite. Its trial and hosting integrations lower the barrier to evaluation, but resource and user caps, price discrepancies and root-level threat-hunter access deserve scrutiny. Choose it for managed server protection; look elsewhere for personal-device security or when those access terms do not fit your operating requirements.
