Overview

AWeber is an email marketing platform aimed at small businesses and entrepreneurs. It supports permission-based communication with prospects and customers through broadcast newsletters, automated message series, opt-in forms, and blog-post notifications. The platform also includes landing pages, ecommerce pages, and web push notifications.

Email creation options include drag-and-drop, HTML, and plain-text editors, alongside more than 700 responsive HTML templates. AI tools can help draft newsletters and emails, generate subject lines, and build signup forms and landing pages. AWeber also supports selling products and services, subscriptions, and payment plans, with sales tracking and purchase tagging.

The company was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in Chalfont, Pennsylvania. AWeber describes its approach as simple email marketing software for small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Key features

Email and audience tools

AWeber supports email automation, audience segmentation, A/B testing, and landing pages. Its automation templates are described as largely prebuilt, with customization available before activation. The Free plan includes one automation and one landing page; paid plans expand those limits.

AI features cover several parts of the email workflow, including newsletter and email drafting, subject-line generation, and signup-form and landing-page creation. The editors offer drag-and-drop, HTML, and plain-text formats, while the template library contains more than 700 responsive HTML designs.

Commerce, integrations, and API

Businesses can use AWeber to sell products and services, offer subscriptions or payment plans, track sales, and tag subscribers based on purchases. Payments can be collected in more than 100 currencies through Stripe.

AWeber connects with more than 750 tools, including Shopify, WordPress, PayPal, Facebook, and Zapier. Zapier or Pabbly can also bridge connections to thousands of applications. Developers can use its REST API and webhooks to add subscribers, send campaigns, retrieve analytics, and manage lists. Integrations that connect to a customer account require OAuth 2.0.

Support and account controls

AWeber offers free account migration handled by its team. Support is available around the clock by phone, live chat, or email; Plus includes priority 24/7 support, while Lite includes 24/7 support. AWeber says it encrypts data in transit and at rest, continuously monitors its systems, maintains backups, conducts risk assessments, and uses DDoS mitigation. It also states that it does not sell customer, subscriber, advocate, or visitor information.

Pricing

AWeber has a free plan, a 14-day trial, and paid subscriptions. The trial converts automatically to a paid subscription when the 14 days end, so users who do not want to continue should account for that billing transition.

Plan	Price	Included limits or details
AWeber Free	0.00 USD per free	Lifetime access; up to 500 subscribers, 3,000 emails monthly, one list profile, and one workflow automation. Includes one landing page and AWeber branding; no credit card required.
Lite	12.49 USD per month (billed annually)	Unlimited subscribers and up to 10 times the subscriber count in monthly sends; one email list, three landing pages, three automations, three users, and one custom segment.
Plus	19.99 USD per month (billed annually)	Unlimited subscribers and up to 12 times the subscriber count in monthly sends; unlimited lists, landing pages, automations, custom segments, and users.
Unlimited	899.00 USD per month (billed monthly)	Unlimited subscribers and up to 15 sends per subscriber monthly, with full feature access.
Hold Package	4.99 USD per month	Temporarily pauses the account while preserving account data.
Done For You	20.00 USD per month (billed annually)	Includes Plus, setup completed in 7 days, and 30 days of unlimited edits. A $79 setup fee is shown, regularly $599.

Free-plan sends include AWeber branding; paid plans remove it. Plan limits differ considerably, particularly for lists, automations, segments, users, and monthly sending volume, so the starting price alone does not describe the full plan fit.

Platforms

AWeber is available on the web and through an API. Dedicated mobile apps have been retired; phone and tablet users are directed to its browser-based mobile website.

Who it's for

AWeber is designed for small businesses and entrepreneurs that need email marketing, automated messages, signup forms, and landing pages in one service. It may also suit businesses selling through email who want purchase tagging, sales tracking, payment plans, and integrations with ecommerce and other third-party tools.

The free plan gives smaller audiences a way to start, with a 500-subscriber ceiling and 3,000 monthly emails. Businesses needing more subscribers, sending capacity, or multiple lists and automations will need to consider a paid plan. Developers can extend or connect workflows through the REST API, webhooks, and OAuth-authorized integrations.

Verdict

AWeber combines email campaigns, automation, audience tools, landing pages, ecommerce capabilities, and a broad integration set. Its free tier provides a concrete entry point, while paid plans scale the available lists, automations, users, and sending volume. The main tradeoffs are the free plan's audience and send limits, branded free emails, the trial's automatic billing transition, and browser-only mobile access. It is most relevant to small businesses and entrepreneurs seeking an email-centered marketing platform with room for ecommerce and integration workflows.
