Overview

AppSweep is a cloud-based mobile security testing tool for developers and teams who want to add security checks to Android and iOS development. Its free plan has no scan or team-member limits, but Enterprise is required for larger uploads and filtering findings in dead code.

Key features

AppSweep combines static analysis of app binaries with interactive runtime testing and sensitive-data-flow analysis. Findings are grouped and prioritized by OWASP MASVS categories, which gives teams a security framework for triage instead of an unstructured list of issues. The downloadable PDF report is useful for sharing findings beyond the development workflow.

The CLI integrates with CI pipelines, including Bitrise, Fastlane, GitHub, and Jenkins. That makes AppSweep a sensible fit for teams that want checks within their build process; it is less compelling for organizations looking primarily for a manual assessment service.

AppSweep is an optional SaaS product that processes or collects application information during analysis. Guardsquare says collected data is processed under the customer's direction under its Data Processing Agreement, encrypted at rest with AES256 and in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher, and hosted on Google Cloud Platform in EU data centers. Teams should weigh that cloud-based handling against any requirement to keep app information outside a SaaS service.

Pricing

Plan	Price	What it includes
AppSweep	Free	Unlimited Android and iOS scans, unlimited team members, static and interactive analysis, CI CLI, OWASP MASVS alignment, and a PDF findings report.
AppSweep Enterprise	Custom pricing	AppSweep features, extended CLI, automated data-retention policies, support for larger apps, and filtering of issues in dead code.

The free plan is unusually open on scan volume and seats, making it a strong starting point for individual developers and teams that fit within its upload limit. Standard AppSweep accepts uploads up to 512 MB; Enterprise raises that limit to 1 GB and adds dead-code filtering and retention policies. Enterprise pricing is custom, so organizations needing those features must request pricing rather than compare a published rate.

Platforms

AppSweep supports Android and iOS mobile application testing. The product is cloud-deployed, with CI CLI support for integrating scans into development pipelines.

Who it's for

AppSweep suits individual developers and teams adding mobile security testing to their development process, especially when unlimited scans and team members matter. Enterprise is the better fit for larger app uploads, dead-code filtering, extended CLI capabilities, or automated retention policies. It is a weaker choice for teams that cannot use a cloud service to process application information.

Pros and cons

Pro: Unlimited scans and team members on the free plan make ongoing checks practical without per-scan or seat restrictions.
Pro: Static and interactive analysis, sensitive-data-flow checks, and MASVS-organized findings support both detection and structured triage.
Pro: CI integrations and a downloadable PDF report serve both build workflows and results sharing.
Con: The standard plan's 512 MB upload cap excludes larger apps unless the team moves to custom-priced Enterprise.
Con: Dead-code filtering and automated retention policies are Enterprise-only, so teams that need those controls cannot get them on the free plan.
Con: Analysis uses a SaaS service that processes or collects application information, which may not fit organizations with strict data-handling constraints.

Alternatives

Compare mobile application security testing software if you want to review the category beyond these options.

Ostorlab is another freemium option with unlimited mobile app scans on its free Community plan, plus attack-surface discovery, remediation, and ticketing.
Reversense Security offers a free Dexcalibur Community Edition focused on instrumentation generation, dynamic deobfuscation, and Android.
Quixxi Scan is an option for teams seeking one-off scans: its SAST Scan and API Scan plans each cost 29.00 USD per once.
Silker AI Mobile Security has a Pro plan at 19.50 USD per month, with a beta offer of 50% off for the first three months and then $39/mo.
Cellebrite Inseyets is a paid alternative with a free trial.
NowSecure Platform is a paid alternative.
Appknox is a paid alternative with a free trial.
Indusface WAS is a paid, web-focused alternative with an Advance plan at 59.00 USD per month per app.

Verdict

Choose AppSweep if you want free, unlimited Android and iOS scans and CI-integrated analysis organized around OWASP MASVS. Look elsewhere if your apps exceed 512 MB, you need dead-code filtering without custom-priced Enterprise, or SaaS processing of app information is unsuitable for your organization.
