Overview

Ouch! by Icons8 is an illustration library for people adding artwork to digital designs. It suits designers who want to adapt assets before export or use animated illustrations in several formats. Its strongest case is the combination of editable artwork, plugins and API access; the main trade-off is the Illustrations plan’s 25-download monthly allowance.

Key features

Artwork and editing

The library spans illustrations, clipart, vector graphics, 3D illustrations and animated illustrations. Static designs can be downloaded as PNG or SVG, and the Mega Creator editor lets users recolor, change and rearrange illustrations assembled from separate pieces. That gives designers room to adapt an asset rather than accept it unchanged. Icons8 also says its styles are designed to remain consistent, which can help artwork from a single style sit together in one project.

Animation exports cover Lottie JSON, Rive, After Effects project, GIF and MOV. The Illustrations plan specifically includes JSON, After Effects project and GIF for animations, plus SVG and large PNG for vectors and FBX with textures. That range is useful when a design needs to move between formats, though buyers should check that their required export is included at the plan level they choose.

Integrations and access

Plugins are available for Figma, Google Docs, Webflow, Photoshop, Illustrator, Miro and Lucid. Icons8 also offers an API for adding illustrations to an app or website, with help from its engineers on integration. These options make Ouch! more relevant to teams building assets into an existing workflow than to someone seeking only occasional standalone downloads.

Icons8 lists Pichon and Lunacy desktop apps for Mac and Windows, and Lunacy for Linux; Face Swapper and GenYOU are listed for iOS and Android. The product’s platforms also include web, API and extension access. Support is linked through a Help Center, forum and contact channel.

Pricing

Ouch! uses a freemium model, with a free plan and a 7-day trial. Free illustrations are available at 0.00 USD per free, but free use requires attribution and is limited to bitmap format. Icons8 says its products can also be used at no cost for open-source projects. That makes the free route most suitable when attribution and bitmap output fit the project; it is less suitable when the design needs uncredited vector files.

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free	0.00 USD per free	Free illustrations; attribution required for free use.
Illustrations	Custom pricing	25 downloads per month, then $0.80 per illustration; SVG and large PNG for vectors, JSON, After Effects project and GIF for animations, FBX with textures, desktop app and plugins, and no attribution.
AI and graphics	Custom pricing	Everything in Illustrations, 100,000 AI credits (about 500 generated illustrations), AI generators and image editing, 100 icons and MCP access, 50 photos, and Mega Creator AI and hand-drawn graphics.
Ultimate	Custom pricing	Everything in AI and graphics, 1 million AI credits (about 5,000 generated illustrations), and unlimited graphics.

Paid plans are offered monthly or yearly, with yearly billing saving 20%. The Illustrations plan is the focused paid option for uncredited vector and animation exports, but 25 monthly downloads can become a meaningful constraint for frequent asset use; additional downloads cost $0.80 each and are billed on the next bill. AI and graphics adds generation and editing tools, while Ultimate raises the AI-credit allowance and makes graphics unlimited. Paid plans include lifetime use without attribution, unused downloads and AI credits roll over, and each account is for one user. Teams should contact Icons8 rather than assume a multi-seat allowance.

Platforms

Ouch! supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, web and Windows, alongside API and extension access. The spread is useful for projects that move between desktop design tools, mobile devices and web services, although the named desktop and mobile apps cover specific Icons8 products rather than one Ouch! app on every platform.

Who it's for

Ouch! is a strong fit for individual designers who need illustrations in multiple formats and want to tailor assembled artwork before downloading. It also suits developers who can use the API to bring illustrations into an app or website, especially where integration assistance is useful. It is a weaker fit for teams needing multiple seats on one account or for high-volume download workflows that would regularly exceed the Illustrations allowance.

Pros and cons

Pros: Editable, piece-based illustrations can be recolored and rearranged in Mega Creator, giving designers more control before export.
Pros: Animation exports span Lottie JSON, Rive, After Effects project, GIF and MOV, while the paid Illustrations plan includes several production-oriented formats.
Pros: Plugins, API access and integration help connect the library to design and development workflows.
Cons: Free use requires attribution and bitmap format, so it does not replace the paid route for uncredited vector work.
Cons: The Illustrations plan caps included downloads at 25 per month, then charges $0.80 per illustration.
Cons: Each paid account is for one user, making it a poor default for teams that need shared seats.

Alternatives

For a broader starting point, browse Stock Illustration Websites or Stock Vector Libraries. Pixabay is the free alternative for people who want media downloads without a paid plan; full-resolution photo and video downloads require sign-up. Bigstock is worth considering when a paid image subscription with daily download quotas is a better fit, with plans starting at 79.00 USD per month for 5 images a day and 150 images a month. Storyblocks suits buyers looking for a broader stock-media subscription: its Essentials plan is 21.00 USD per month, billed annually, for one user and unlimited downloads of 8K, 4K and HD footage, video templates and more.

Depositphotos is another freemium stock option. GetIllustrations is a relevant alternative for developers who want a free API tier with 1,500 calls per month and watermarked previews of premium assets. iStock may suit buyers comparing paid stock plans, with its Basic plan at 29.00 USD per month on an annual plan for 10 downloads per month. PIXTA offers a web-based freemium option, including 3 images per month at 15.00 USD per month with annual renewal. Yay Images is another freemium choice for buyers comparing image plans.

Verdict

Choose Ouch! if you are an individual designer or developer who values editable illustrations, animation formats and integrations in one library. The combination of Mega Creator, plugins and API access is its clearest advantage. Look elsewhere if you need a shared team account, routinely download more than 25 illustrations a month, or require free vector exports without attribution.
