Overview

Part of a creative marketplace founded in 2001, the catalog spans sans serif, serif, decorative, and tech fonts. Product pages can include preview images, glyphs, and a type tester, giving buyers useful ways to assess a typeface before committing. The site also offers free fonts and says users can sign up for access to thousands of creative resources, though free fonts remain subject to their licenses.

The catalog is a library of individual font offerings, not a single bundled family. Licenses are perpetual one-time purchases, with lifetime access and no required subscription. The Mondial Plus font license, for example, costs 30.00 USD per once, billed as a $30.00 one-time payment, for a Standard font license. Other web, eBook, and mobile app licenses can be selected through Buying Options.

Key features

Font selection and previews

The range of styles supports projects with different typographic needs, while product-page previews help narrow choices before purchase. Variable fonts are part of the catalog. Listed formats include WOFF2, WOFF, EOT, SVG, TTF, and OTF, but buyers should check the individual font's offering rather than assume every file type or preview tool applies across the catalog.

Licensing by use

Desktop and web licensing are distinct. A desktop license covers installation on up to two devices; additional devices require additional licenses. The desktop license does not authorize serving a font on the web or embedding it in software without the relevant license or permission. Web, eBook, and mobile app extensions can be added through Buying Options or the Manage License area, so the marketplace can accommodate more than desktop work—but buyers need the license for each intended use.

Web licenses are one-time purchases, priced according to monthly pageviews rather than recurring subscriptions. Tiers cover 50,000, 100,000, 1,000,000, 10,000,000, or unlimited monthly pageviews, at 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, or 15x the desktop price respectively. The license covers one font on one domain; files cannot be shared across multiple domains. Buyers host the files themselves and use CSS @font-face. WOFF2, WOFF, EOT, SVG, and web-only TTF are supported formats. The terms also place technical and design support outside the web license, making this a better fit for teams comfortable managing their own implementation.

Team and volume terms

A standard desktop license has two seats. For licenses covering 3–100 users, each user beyond the first two costs an additional 25% of the font price, subject to the designer participating in the discount program. The desktop license page also describes different terms for 101 or more users, and use above 250,000 instances requires a license extension. Teams and high-volume projects should confirm the applicable terms before relying on a standard purchase.

Pricing

The freemium model includes a free plan and curated free fonts, but free access does not mean unrestricted use: each font remains governed by its license. For buyers seeking a specific typeface, the listed Mondial Plus font license is 30.00 USD per once, billed as a $30.00 one-time payment. It includes a Standard font license rather than automatic rights for every channel; web, eBook, and mobile app rights are separate options.

Web licensing also uses a one-time fee, with the pageview allowance setting the price relative to the desktop font price. The lowest tier covers 50,000 monthly pageviews at 1x that price; unlimited coverage costs 15x. This structure avoids recurring fees but makes high-traffic use materially more expensive. There is no single universal price for a font license: the selected font, usage, and applicable extensions determine the purchase.

Platforms

The site says its fonts work on Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android, and the directory lists macOS, Windows, Linux, web, iOS, and Android. Platform compatibility does not replace licensing: web serving, eBook distribution, and mobile app embedding require the appropriate rights rather than a desktop license alone.

Who it's for

YouWorkForThem Fonts is a strong fit for designers and publishers choosing individual typefaces, especially when they want to preview glyphs and compare styles before paying once for a perpetual license. It also suits web publishers who can host files and manage CSS themselves, provided they can estimate traffic and keep use to the licensed domain.

It is less suitable for buyers who need one license to cover many devices, domains, or software distribution by default. The two-device desktop cap, separate web licensing, domain restriction, and limited web-license support all require deliberate license planning.

Pros and cons

Pros: The catalog spans several broad styles and can provide images, glyphs, and a type tester, helping buyers evaluate individual fonts before purchase.
Pros: Perpetual one-time licensing avoids subscription renewals, and a range of pageview tiers lets web buyers pay according to expected traffic.
Cons: A desktop license covers only two devices and does not grant web-serving or software-embedding rights, so multi-channel projects need additional licensing.
Cons: Web use is limited to one font on one domain, requires self-hosting, and comes without technical or design support under the web license.
Cons: Team and high-volume use can add cost or require extensions, and the 3–100 user discount terms depend on designer participation.

Alternatives

For a broader marketplace comparison, start with the Font Marketplaces directory. Choose Adobe Fonts instead if its basic library of about 5,500 fonts, available free with trial subscriptions and some free, team, enterprise, and education accounts, better matches how you access fonts. Fontspring is another freemium choice with a free trial and an eBook license described as perpetual with unlimited copies and formats on Worry-Free licenses; its desktop plan price is not given here.

iFontCloud is a freemium alternative with a free plan across iOS, macOS, web, and Windows. Font Bros offers free fonts and webfont licenses for most fonts, with webfont pricing depending on the font. If an open-source catalog for commercial and non-commercial use is the priority, Google Fonts is free. Morisawa Fonts offers a free plan with five selected fonts, but logotypes made with those fonts cannot be registered as trademarks. Fontshare is a free option permitting personal and commercial use across media, scale, and location worldwide for an unlimited period. Font Bundles is another freemium option available on the web.

Verdict

Choose YouWorkForThem Fonts if you want an individual typeface, a perpetual purchase, and clear routes to desktop or self-hosted web use. Its strongest case is the combination of stylistic breadth and one-time licensing; look elsewhere if you need broad device or domain coverage without separate license planning, or web implementation support included.
