What Torchlight is

Torchlight is a secular, literature-based homeschool curriculum for Pre-K through Level 5. It uses open-ended, Socratic-inspired discussion and inquiry instead of aiming for one correct answer. Level 1 provides 36 weeks of plans across literature, poetry, vocabulary, history, mythology, science, art, and music. Materials include linked book and media lists, library checklists, extension activities, literature primers, a year-long project, and a vocabulary journal. Families may follow the optional weekly schedule or use the content as a flexible checklist, with alternative resources included. Levels beyond Pre-K leave math and reading to programs chosen by each family, while offering recommendations. Purchases deliver downloadable PDFs; no physical materials are included, and downloads remain available for 60 days. Books from the lists and project supplies are also needed. A placement tool helps choose a level.
