What OpenGameStats is

OpenGameStats provides Steam player counts, sales, prices, price history, and game statistics through a website, Chrome extension, and API. The extension displays stored player counts, price history, and lowest recorded prices on Steam pages. Watchlists let users follow games, sales, all-time lows, and price drops. Its API provides stored Steam app data, including player counts, prices, reviews, achievements, and engagement; regional price endpoints include country-specific current prices and timestamped history. Price history covers Steam Store apps, not Community Market items such as skins or trading cards. API responses show observation and serving times, but do not refresh upstream data inline; documented freshness ranges from 5–15 minutes for tier A to 3–7 days for tier D. Protected endpoints accept API keys in a Bearer authorization header or X-API-Key header. A key is displayed in plaintext once at creation, while the service stores prefixes and hashes. Plans include Free at no cost, Indie at $5 a month, Hobby at $10 a year, and Pro at $49 a month. The project describes itself as independent of Valve and Steam.
