OnLine Taxes is web-based tax preparation software from a company founded in 1999 and headquartered in St. Joseph, Missouri. The Free Edition prepares, prints and e-files federal returns, includes supported forms and schedules, email support and prior-year data import. It also handles investment, rental and self-employment income. Premium Edition costs $7.95 a month and adds email, live-chat and phone support, audit support, year-over-year comparison, online account access and lifetime customer support. State filing is a separate paid add-on: State Tax Return costs $9.95 a month, billed per state, and supports multiple states plus nonresident and part-year returns where available. The pricing model is freemium, with free federal preparation and paid upgrades. Mobile access is web-only. The service therefore separates federal filing in the free edition from premium support features and state returns, which have their own charges.
