Onehouse Cloud
Onehouse Cloud is a managed lakehouse platform for analytics and AI that runs inside a customer’s virtual private cloud.
What Onehouse Cloud is
Onehouse Cloud is a managed lakehouse platform for analytics and AI that runs inside a customer’s virtual private cloud. OneFlow incrementally ingests data into Apache Hudi, Apache Iceberg and Delta Lake tables in cloud storage. Quanton provides SQL, Spark jobs and PySpark notebooks with autoscaling compute, while managed clusters support Trino, Apache Flink and Ray. Automated lakehouse table services are intended to improve query speed, with Onehouse stating up to 10x faster queries on tables. OneSync synchronises metadata across Snowflake, Databricks Unity Catalog, Google Data Catalog and AWS Glue. Data remains in the customer’s account and VPC, with encryption in transit and at rest, project-level role-based access controls and audit logs. Onehouse states SOC 2 Type 1 and 2 certification and PCI DSS compliance. Usage is measured in Onehouse Compute Units; cloud infrastructure and support costs are separate. A trial offers $1,000 credit for 30 days.
Good
- Runs in the customer’s VPC
- Supports Hudi, Iceberg and Delta Lake
- Autoscaling SQL and Spark compute
- Catalog metadata synchronisation
- 30-day trial with $1,000 credit
Watch out
- Cloud infrastructure costs are separate
- Support is limited for free Open Engines
- Cost retrieval through API is unavailable
Who it suits
It is aimed at teams accelerating Spark workloads, reducing warehouse costs or building a new analytics platform. It suits organisations needing lakehouse processing within their own VPC.
Verdict
Onehouse Cloud brings ingestion, compute, table services and governance together for cloud lakehouse projects. Its VPC model and broad engine support are balanced by separate infrastructure costs and current API and support limitations.
