What Call Insider is

Call Insider is a free service for identifying unknown phone numbers and sharing reports about callers. Its Android app draws on a database containing more than 300 million identified numbers, with data from more than 100 websites. During a call, it can show a number’s rating on a dedicated screen or in a pop-up. A downloadable database covering more than 100 countries supports offline lookup. Users can rate unknown numbers and view other ratings, yearly interest in a number, and sometimes a landline location. These reports can help people assess calls such as telemarketing, surveys, courier deliveries, or office contacts. Free registration provides fewer ads, editable rating history, reply notifications, more daily comments, and easier reporting of harmful comments. The site says the app cannot access or send the user’s phone number; rating requests send the queried number in anonymized form without call history, contacts, names, or timestamps. Contacts are used only to distinguish known from unknown numbers and are not saved or shared. Call blocking for potentially harmful and unsaved numbers is described as in development.
