We are currently in the middle of the MIUI 12.5 Global update rollout cycle. While this new update hasn’t officially landed on any Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO device in the Indian subcontinent.
The very first device that will carry this update out of the box will be the Redmi Note 10S that will launch soon. Now as per some reports, Xiaomi is rumored to announce the new MIUI 13 update on June 25. This is obviously for the China market, so we can expect the Global update to land sometime in mid-September.
There isn’t much known on what changes this update will bring but what is known is that devices launched 2019 onwards will only be getting this particular MIUI build. This puts the Redmi Note 8 series, Redmi 8 series, and some POCO devices in a grey area. These smartphones were among the best sellers with quite a huge user base.
We expect this new MIUI 13 update to be based on the Android 12 build and bring in some API level changes apart from the usual UI refresh. Since MIUI 12.5 update focused much more on fluidity and security, we expect Xiaomi to carry this forward and deliver a tightly packed ecosystem since they are also launching new Notebooks and High-end Android Tablets as well.
