Pick Burkmak if…
Burkmak suits self-hosters, Kobo readers, and note-takers who want to collect articles and keep highlights in Obsidian. Its single-instance design is aimed at a limited number of accounts, not multi-instance high availability.
Pick Matter if…
Matter suits readers who want to save varied online content for later and find it again with full-text search. It also fits people who want offline reading, audio or video transcripts, and exported or synced highlights.
